Taking Steps Forward

In our return to school following Thanksgiving break, we have resumed our project and have begun making big steps towards the end goal.

On Friday (12/14), we make progress on our finalization of the house plans and dimensions, and got to cutting some wood as well. On Tuesday (12/18), we took the wood that we cut and began structuring the door frame of the house. We are building the door frame off of the house so we can later put it in place when we are ready to install the SIPS panels.

As an additional form of adhesive for our house, we are using a more environmentally friendly form of Liquid Nail called Build Secure. This caulk adhesive will go in between pieces of wood to give some extra assistance to the nails that would normally be holding the house together on their own. It was a priority of ours to be able to find a sustainable alternative to Liquid Nail when we discovered we would be needing to use this adhesive.

The CarbonicHeat Corporation has generously offered to supply us with their product.

What is CarbonicHeat?
The CarbonicHeat Radiant Heat materials warm both thermally (warm not hot to touch) and via, healthy FAR-Infrared rays heat the objects in the room.

CarbonicHeat is a thin layer of heating insulation that is able to go directly onto the subfloor of the house. It is about as thick as two credit cards and comes in sheets for an easy installation.
