Our Trip to The Twin Falls Refugee Center

On Tuesday, September 18th we took a class trip down to Twin Falls, Idaho to check out the Refugee Center there. While at the center, we had the opportunity to teach English classes to some of the refugees, and help set up an apartment for a refugee arriving on September 19th. We learned about where the refugees are coming from, and their reasons for doing so. Many of the refugees we met at the center were originally from Eritrea fleeing the war between Eritrea and Ethiopia. From Eritrea, they fled to camps in Sudan where they lived for many years until making it to the United States. We also learned about the problems that the Twin Falls Refugee Center is facing financially, and their struggles to be able to continue housing and providing assistance to these Refugees when they first come to America.
